Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra today asked the state administration to expedite the appointments of the kin of government employees who died in harness.

"In the past several days, the Governor NN Vohra has approved, under SRO-43, the appointment of 29 eligible family members of government employees who died in harness," an official Raj Bhawan spokesman said.

After observing that several cases were pending from one to eight years, the Governor directed the Secretary General, Administration department, to immediately issue instructions to all the Administrative Secretaries to personally review all SRO-43 cases pending in their departments, he said.

"He (Governor) has asked to ensure that all procedural formalities, identification of vacancies are settled on time bound basis to finalise every case within 120 days of the initiation," he said.

The spokesman said that the cases approved by the Governor include those in which the employee had died in harness seven to eight years ago.

"Observing that prolonged delays in processing such cases negate the very basis of providing compassionate appointments, the Governor has issued directions for time bound processing of cases," he said.
