Jammuand Kashmir High Court today directed the state government to ensuresupply of essential commodities and adequate treatment to the injured persons admitted to various hospitals in incidents of clashes with security personnel.
Hearing a petition, a division bench of Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice M H Attarsaid it is the responsibility of the state to provide essentials commodities to the people during restrictions.
"As could be seen that restrictions are in place for over past five days, not only the people residing in the Valley but also the visitors/tourists are put to serious predicament.

"Hence we direct the State to ensure supply of essential commodities, including surgical material and to give adequate treatment to the injured persons in various hospitals," the bench said its order.
The High Court gave the directions on a petition filed by general secretary of J&K Peoples Forum M M Shuja which said due to imposition of restrictions under Section 144 of CrPC in the Valley, people were put to hardships due to non-supply of essential commodities, like shortage of vegetable, baby food, medicines and life saving drugs.
During the arguments, the party in person submitted that even the government officers those dealing with supply of essential commodities i.E. Health and Family Welfare and Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Department are not functioning.
TheCourt issued notices to Secretary, Health and Family Welfare and Directors of Health and CAPD.
