The minister said he would take up the matter of creating a separate township for people living in border areas of Hiranagar, R S Pura and Arnia and also of Poonch and Rajouri districts with state and Central governments.
Singh said frequent firing by Pakistan "shattered" the life of the people living near the border and added that the government was doing everything possible for their welfare.
"The government is aware of and very much concerned about the loss to crops, houses...Studies of children have badly suffered and the circumstances that forced them to leave their homes," he said.
Singh said the civil administration and police personnel have been asked to camp in R S Pura and make arrangements for accommodating border people displaced by firing.
"Sub Divisional Magistrate and police officials of the town have been told to give on the spot compensation to the injured and to those whose houses were damaged," he said.
Three people were killed and 17 injured as Pakistan Rangers resorted to unprovoked shelling on civilian areas along the International Border in R S Pura sector yesterday, a day after Indian security forces in the Valley captured a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist who had sneaked into the state from across the Line of Control.
