J&K highway closed for several hours due to landslides

The 300-km long Jammu-Srinagar national highway today remained closed for several hours due to landslide at Panthal area in Ramban district, officials said.

The highway was closed for traffic following major landslide this morning, SSP Traffic National Highway, Haseeb Mugal said.

The men and machines of Border Roads Organisation (BRO) cleared the landslide and traffic was allowed on the highway at 4 PM today, he said.

Around 400 vehicles, including passenger vehicles, were stranded before the road was reopened.

The Batote-Doda-Kishtwar highway was also blocked at Prem Nagar area of Doda district due to landslide. Work was on to clear the debris, he said.
