Jammu-Srinagar National Highway today faced traffic jams after a vehicle broke down in the middle of the road.
Several passengers including several Vaishno Devi bound pilgrims had to face problems for few hours before normal traffic was restored.
"A vehicle had developed some technical snag in the middle of the highway which led to the traffic jam, we reached the spot and the jam was cleared within an hour," a traffic police officer said.

"There were huge lines of stranded vehicles as we remained stranded for several hours because of the traffic mess on the highway and adding to the problem was the absence of the police to clear the jam on the highway," said a Vaishno Devi bound pilgrim.
As the Jammu Srinagar National Highway has been undergoing repair work following the damage caused by last month's devastating floods, majority of the Srinagar bound passengers choose an alternative road to reach the Valley via Poonch district.
