In wake of recent protests against poor power supply, the Jammu and Kashmir government today asked Power Development Department to ensure repair of damaged conductors and transformers on priority.

"Repair damaged conductors, transformers on priority," Minister of Tourism, G A Mir, who is in the city to attend the Summer Secretariat, said while emphasising the maintenance of transmission and distribution system in the city.

"Keep close check on power breakdowns to avoid inconvenience to the consumers," Mir said, besides calling for minimum curtailment of power.

"There should be minimum curtailment of power, so that people may not suffer in hot summer," the minister said during a high-level meeting here.

He also directed the PHE department to ensure regular water supply to people.
