J-K minister condemns killing of sarpanch

"The government will do all that is needed for the family and the necessary instruction have been passed to the concerned in this regard," Rural Development minister Ali Mohammad Sagar said during his visit to Sopore to express condolences to the bereaved family.

Congress Sarpanch Habibullah Mir was shot dead by unidentified militants at his Goripora residence in north Kashmir Sopore town, 52 kms from here, yesterday.

Sagar, who was accompanied by MLA Sopore M A Ganai and other senior officers, visited the bereaved family and expressed his condolences.

Lauding the role of Mir, he said he used to work round the clock for ensuring that the people of his area do not face any inconvenience.

 

The minister said that police authorities have already been directed to identify the culprits and take stern actions against them.
