The demand comes after Chairman Amrit Malhotra dissolved the House Committee probing allegations against the Minister.

"I have no trust, no faith in Legislative Council Chairman (Malhotra). I request my Party High Command (Congress) for a no-confidence motion again him," Taj said here.

The minister has been accused of grabbing forest land in Sedow area of Shopian district in connivance with some officials of the revenue department.

The committee formed by Malhotra was "illegal, unconstitutional, without jurisdiction, malafide to defame me," the minister alleged.

"This committee has been dissolved now. But (if) it was not dissolved, I would have moved to court to scrap the unconstitutional committee," Taj claimed.

In an order, the Legislative Council Chairman had said the five-member House Committee stands dissolved as the members belonging to the National Conference had withdrawn from it.

"The Committee does not seem to be in a position to serve any purpose without the participation of the largest political party in the House ie National Conference. Against this background, I am convinced that the continuance of the Committee would not serve any purpose. I, therefore, dissolve the committee with immediate effect," Malhotra had said.

Taj today alleged that a deliberate effort was made to create a wedge in the coalition government.

"I will ask Congress High Command and NC to bring no confidence motion again him. I am not against probe and I am still ready for probe by any constitutional body," he said. MORE
