Addressing session of the second J&K Agriculture Science Congress organised by Sher-i-Kashmir University of Agriculture Science and Technology, Mir underlined need for extension of conservation techniques by involvement of all concerned stakeholders, including farmers.
He noted that productivity of traditional agriculture has been under-estimated, and said studies should be carried to understand various types of farming methods, including traditional as well as modern methods.
Mir said instead of running behind "technological miracles", stress should be laid upon use of indigenous knowledge and organic farming techniques to attain sustainability and productivity in agriculture.
He also lauded initiatives by FCI for ensuring fair prices to farmers of their agricultural produce.
