Minister for Tourism G A Mir and Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma, today called on Governor N N Vohra at Raj Bhavan here and discussed various issues related to their departments.
During the meeting, Mir briefed the Governor about the various initiatives taken by the Tourism Department in the past year for the promotion of tourism in each of the three regions of the state, an official spokesman said.
The Governor spoke about the vital importance of protecting and preserving the natural beauty of the scenic areas through effective enforcement of traffic regulations, maintenance of roads and bridges, collection and disposal of garbage, identification of land fill sites and storm water drainage system.

Sharma discussed with Vohra various issues relating to the measures being taken for augmenting drinking water supply and irrigation facilities in various parts of the state for effectively meeting the existing and the speedily increasing demands in both these sectors.
Referring to the fast increasing demand for supply of water to cater to the requirements of the Shri Mata Vaishno Deviji Yatra, the Governor stressed the high importance of timely planning and timely executing new water supply schemes to meet the future requirements of fast expanding Katra town and its surrounding areas.
Director General of Police Ashok Prasad and Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Shantmanu also met the Governor at Raj Bhavan here and briefed him in detail about the security situation in the state.
