"The decision was taken at a meeting convened at Handwara which was attended by more than 300 Panches and Sarpanches hailing from Langate and adjoining areas," Rashid said in a statement here.
He said it was unanimously decided that Shabir Ahmad Rather and Nazir Ahmad War, who are sarpanchs in their respective areas, will contest the Legislative Council election.
He appealed the Panches and Sarpanches of the Valley to vote for his candidates, who will work for empowering Panchayati Raj Institutions in the state and also strive for the resolution of Kashmir issue in the state legislature.
