"The Chief Minister will dedicate the toll plaza constructed with a cost of Rs 42.58 crore to the people tomorrow," Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs Abdul Rahim Rather said today after reviewing the preparations for the function.
The toll plaza which includes weigh bridges, public grievances hall, main office block and parking lot for 240 trucks at a time, has been constructed on fast track basis to make both vehicular movement and tax collection mechanism hassle free.
In view of the great importance of tax collection in resource mobilisation, the completion of the project is vital for the growth and development of the state, he said.
The state officials informed the minister that revenue realisation on account of toll during 2011-12 has been Rs 306 crore as compared to Rs 249 crore during 2010-2011 registering a growth of 22.58 per cent.
The import and export of taxable goods during last fiscal has been of the value of Rs 28,924 crore and Rs 12,369 crore respectively, they said.
