In a bid to promote golf in the state as well as to attract tourists, Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department today organised a day-long Autumn Golf Tournament at the picturesque Royal Springs Golf Course (RSGC) here, a first such event in the the unrest-hit Valley in the last four months.
"In a bid to promote MICE (Meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions tourism) and golf in the state, the department of Tourism today organised a day-long Autumn Golf Tournament at Royal Springs Golf Course (RSGC), Srinagar," an official spokesman said.
He said deputy commissioner Srinagar Farooq Ahmad Lone teed-off the event in presence of veteran golf lovers.

"Besides, golfers from J&K, as many as 92 golfers from various parts of the country participated in the tournament," the spokesman said.
He said the tournament was aimed at to establish Jammu and Kashmir as one of the promising destinations for MICE and golf segments.
The department is planning to promote conference and golf tourism as convention and post convention industry, the spokesman said.
