The revenue record keepers in Jammu and Kashmir have called off their 44-day old strike after getting assurance from the state government that their pay anomalies would be resolved in a cabinet meeting scheduled tomorrow.

"We are calling off the strike on the condition that the government at its cabinet meeting tomorrow will end the pay anomalies," president, Patwar Association, Mohammad Afaq Shopiani told reporters here.

The striking Patwaris held a protest demonstration outside the Divisional Commissioner's office earlier in the day to press for their demand.

They went on an indefinite strike last month demanding removal of pay anomalies, promotion of Girdawars(record keepers of cultivation of land) to Naib Tehsildars, ban on direct recruitment of Naib Tehsildars and renovation of Patwarkhanas.
