J&K police bust cannabis processing unit

Police today busted a cannabis processing unit and seized large quantity of the contraband in south Kashmir's Anantnag district.

The cannabis processing unit concealed in a cow-shed was busted and a large quantity of Charas and other contrabands were seized, a police spokesman said.

Acting on a tip off, a police party raided the cowshed of Mohammad Hussain Ganie, resident of Poshkreeri area of the district.

During the search, police recovered a Charas processing unit where poppy and cannabis powder was being produced.

The equipment, including a straw grinder, motor and one weight measure were seized from the cowshed, the spokesman said.
 

Police recovered 15 kilogram Charas, 4.6 kg poppy grinded straw and 45 kg poppy straw from there.

The accused, however, gave slip to the police, the spokesman said, adding a case has been registered against Ganie under NDPS act and a manhunt has been launched to nab him.
