J-K police destroys poppy cultivation spread over 1.5 hectare

Jammu and Kashmir police today destroyed poppy cultivation spread over 1.5 hectare of land in Kulgam district in continuation of its efforts to check the growth of the banned crop.

Illegal Poppy cultivation spread over 30 Kanals (1.5 hectare) of land at different places in the south Kashmir district was destroyed by the police, a police spokesman said here.

He said the illegal cultivation was destroyed in villages Chawalgam, Sangus, Chanser and Suceh.

Police has registered a case in this regard, the spokesman said, adding the process of destroying the illegal cultivation will continue in coming days in other parts of the district.
