Jammu and Kashmir police today set up helplines in all district control rooms asking people to register their complaints with regard to harassment by "hooligans" for immediate action.

"Police, across Kashmir has established helplines in the police control rooms of the respective districts for the general public who wish to inform regarding the harassment by hooligans, stoppage and disruption of the traffic by miscreants, damage or arson to the public property or obstacles erected on roads or lanes," a police spokesperson said in a brief statement here.

The statement comes in the wake of the ongoing unrest triggered by the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani last month.

The police gave out the helpline numbers for receiving the complaints so that it can act accordingly.

Kashmir valley is on the boil since the killing of Burhan on July 8. Subsequent protests have left 55 persons dead and over 6000 others injured, while 1000 persons have been arrested.
