Jammu and Kashmir Police is organising a national level cycle race, Pedal for Kashmir, here on Sunday in which 1500 cyclists of national and international repute will take part.
"The event is being organised to promote sports among the youth of the state. More than 1500 cyclists including 50 cyclists of national fame have registered their participation in the mega event. Some international cyclists are also participating in the race," IGP (IR Kashmir) S A Watali said.
Watali, who is organising secretary, chaired a meeting here to finalise the arrangements for the event.

He said cyclists, male and female, of different age groups are participating in the race and the registration process for the event is going on in full swing.
Giving details, Watali said top five cyclists in senior category will get cash prizes of Rs 50,000; Rs 40,000, Rs 30,000; Rs 20,00 and Rs 10,000 respectively.
Similarly in junior category, top five winners would be awarded Rs 30,000; Rs 25,000; Rs 20,000; Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively, he said.
