The police department will set up two master canteens in Jammu and Srinagar to provide better facilities to the jawans, a senior official said today.

Two master canteens would be set up, one each in Jammu and Srinagar, from where products would be supplied to subsidiary canteens being run in battalions and districts, Additional DG Armed Police S M Sahi said.

Sahi today held a meeting with state DGP Ashok Prasad and discussed issues related to infrastructure, canteen facilities, crime, and law and order situation in Jammu region.

He said that products would be directly purchased from manufacturers, which would reduce the price of products by way of doing away with the interests of stockists/wholesale dealers.

The ADGP said that a proposal is being worked out to provide better canteen facilities to our jawans and officers and their families at much cheaper rates.
