The Privileges Committee of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council has withdrawn a motion against an SP posted at Srinagar airport following an assurance by a senior officer at the facility to streamline and improve the system there.

The committee met yesterday under the chairmanship of Ravinder Kumar Sharma and decided to withdraw the motion against SP (anti-hijacking), AR Bhat, for not providing transport facility at Srinagar airport, an official spokesman said here today.

The motion was withdrawn after Additional DGP (Security), VK Singh, gave an assurance about streamlining and improving facilities at the airport. Singh also took full responsibility for the matter involving the SP.

On August 27, the committee had asked Singh to make improvements at the airport while discussing a privilege notice moved by legislator Ravinder Kumar Sharma against the said SP for not providing transport facility there.

Meanwhile, at another meeting, the committee discussed the privilege motion against the employees of the J-K Marketing Cooperative Federation (JAKFED).

It discussed in detail the privilege motion moved by Naresh Kumar Gupta against the employees of JAKFED for calling a press conference in March 2013 and threatening the member for raising the issue in the House, the spokesman said.

Expressing dismay over the negligence exhibited by the JAKFED management in its handling of the case, the committee asked its MD to provide it with all the documents related to the case.
