A Legislative Council panel has asked Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Recruitment Board (SSRB) to speed up the pace of selection process for various posts referred to it by various government departments in the state.
The direction was made by the Subordinate Committee of the Legislative Council which met under the chairmanship of ruling National Conference MLC Ali Mohammad Dar here and discussed and examined the functioning of the SSRB, an official spokesman said today.
"The Committee discussed threadbare the criteria and pace of selection process and emphasised on maintaining transparency and upholding sanctity of the Board besidese asking the Board to speed up the pace of selection process," the spokesman said.

Earlier, Chairperson of the SSRB Shugufta Parveen said 17619 different posts were referred to the Board this year and selection process of 14001 posts has been completed, out of which various selection lists comprising of 7194 posts were made public till date.
She said the selection lists for the 423 posts would be released soon.
"Selection of 6384 posts is under tabulation besides 8000 fresh posts have been received after March 2014, out of which screening test for 946 posts has been held and schedule for 4592 posts have issued by the Board," Parveen said.
She assured the Committee that Board is doing its job with utmost zeal and dedication besides maintains transparency in the selection processes and will issue the selection lists of about 6000 posts by November this year.
With over 6.50 lakh unemployed youth, the problem is expected to be one of the key issues in the state elections slated for later this year.
