J&K set to host All India Police Water Sports Championship

Jammu and Kashmir is all set to host the 14th All India Police Water Sports Championship next week with over 450 athletes from across the country expected to showcase their skills in events such as canoeing, kayaking and rowing in the famouse Dal Lake here.

A total of 17 teams of different central and state police organisations from across the country have confirmed their participation in the five-day event scheduled to commence at the picturesque lake under the foothills of Zabarwan range on July 27, Additional Director General of State Police Dilbagh Singh told reporters here.

The teams that have confirmed their participation in the event are BSF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Orissa, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh besides the host Jammu and Kashmir, he said.
 

In canoeing, different competitions comprise C1 (200 m, 500 m and 1000 m), C2 (200 m, 500 m and 1000 m) and C4 (200 m, 500 m and 1000 m), he said.

In kayaking, Singh said the athletes will compete in K1 (200 m, 500 m and 1000 m), K2 (200 m, 500 m and 1000 m) and K4 (200 m, 500 m and 1000 m).

The rowing competitions include single scull (500 m and 1000 m), double scull (500 m and 1000 m) and coxless scull (500 m and 1000 m), he said.
