J&K: Three missing as SUV falls into Chenab river

Three persons were feared drowned today after their vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a swollen Chenab river in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir.

An SUV with three persons onboard fell into the river in Gatsu village on the Batote-Kishtwar national highway around around 5:40 PM, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Iftkhar Ahmed said.

The vehicle was travelling to Jammu from Chirala area in Doda, he said.

"A joint team of police, Chenab rescuers and locals immediately rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation but could neither spot the vehicle nor any of its passengers till the last reports came in," Ahmed said.
 

Two of the SUV passengers were identified as Ravi Kumar (driver) and Ishtiaq Ahmed, while identity of third passenger could not be ascertained, the DSP said.
