J&K to spend 4.98 cr for development of sports infrastructure

"The construction of new and upgradation of existing sports infrastructure for promoting sports culture is the priority of the government. Government intends to engage youth towards the sports activities and channelise their energy in the positive direction," Minister for Youth Services and Sports R S Chib said while addressing a meeting here.

He said the sports infrastructure will attract more and more boys and girls towards sports activities.

"This would help in nurturing the budding sports persons who have potential to compete at various levels," the minister said.

Chib directed the executing agencies to speed up the pace of work on these projects and accomplish them in a time bound manner.

 

He also instructed the concerned authorities to initiate necessary process for timely release of funds so that playfields were completed at the earliest.

Provision of cricket and other sports facilities to the local teams would also be established, he said.
