J-K tour operators hail chopper ticketing quota for Amarnath

An organisation of tour operators today said the decision of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) to allocate helicopter ticketing quota for Amarnath pilgrimage to Jammu and Kashmir based tourism trade associations has promoted religious tourism in the state.

"SASB's policy to offer economic opportunities to low volume service providers through trade associations has proved a boon for them and opened window to vast field of economics of religious tourism since 2009," President of Association of Religious Tour Operators, Jammu, Ajay Kumar Gupta said.

The multi-fold increase the number of pilgrims for Amarnath Yatra and SASB policy for economic opportunities to Jammu as well as Kashmir has brought the tourism service providers of the state in main stream of tourism industry at the national level, he said.
 

"We appreciate the contribution of Governor N N Vohra, who is also the Chairman of SASB, for allocating helicopter ticketing quota to various state based tourism trade associations," Gupta added.
