The J&K unit of the Janata Party today merged with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) when its state president Abdul Rehman Lone and the entire state leadership joined the party.

The state leadership led by Lone joined BJP in presence of BJP MP and state Prabhari Avinash Rai Khanna, state BJP president Jugal Kishore Sharma, leader of legislative party Ashok Khajuria, national executive members Dr Nirmal Singh and Shamsher Singh Manhas.

Welcoming the leaders into the party-fold, Khanna said that the merging itself is the testimony of the fact that the Modi-wave is sweeping minds of all communities and sections across the country.

On the occasion, Jugal Kishore Sharma claimed that the Congress is facing difficulty to reach the people since Narendra Modi has been declared the party's prime ministerial candidate.
