Jharkhand Assembly today passed Motion of Thanks on the speech of Governor Droupadi Murmu through voice vote, while the government said the state's economic situation was strong and can improve upon the 7.1 per cent growth rate.

Replying before the Motion of Thanks approved by the House, state Parliamentary Affairs Minister Saryu Roy said the speech formed the base for the government's direction towards development and growth.

Stating that Jharkhand has moved forward since its inception as its budget has grown manifold, Roy said the state had an impressive 7.1 per cent growth rate and if it could move forward, "we can make it double in the next 10 years."

He, however, admitted that the growth of the common people was not as much compared to the state's growth.

Touching upon the Governor's 10 aims to make the state prosperous through participation of people, cleanliness, rooting out corruption, hassle-free traffic, electricity, agriculture, irrigation, education, health and women empowerment, Roy said the government would seriously ponder over the suggestions given by the members during the debate on the speech.

Referring to Opposition members' concerns over some points, Roy said the Governor's speech was not an extensive document like the Budget speech.
