J'khand Assembly pays tribute to Laxman, Kothari among others

The Jharkhand Assembly today paid tributes to cartoonist R K Laxman, famous social scientist Rajni Kothari and other noted personalities who passed away recently.

Laxman's 'common man' will remain forever, observed Speaker Dinesh Oraon.

Lauding his immortal cartoons in a career spanned over four decades, Chief Minister Raghubar Das said Laxman was the best cartoonist of modern India.

The House observed two minutes silence in memory of Laxman, Kothari, Gorkha National Liberation Front leader Subhash Ghising, writer Tulsi Ram, CPI leader Govind Pansare, journalist Kusheswar Thakur and other departed souls before adjourning for the day till Monday.
