The Jharkhand sector of CRPF today launched a sapling plantation drive in the state on the eve of the 78th anniversary of the central paramilitary force.
According to a release by the force, with Chief Minister Raghubar Das appealing "one person, five saplings" and his commitment to environment, CRPF has set a plantation target of two lakh saplings by end of the year.
In all, 78,000 saplings were planted in 150 central reserve police force camps and nearby villages across 18 districts of the state with participation of 15,600 personnel, sending a message to protect the environment, the release said.
On the occasion, state Urban Development minister C P Singh planted saplings at the headquarters of the CoBRA battalion, the release said adding, IG (CRPF) Sanjay Anand Lathkar and of senior officers participated on the occasion.
