Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das today said his government is committed to develop the state as well as rehabilitate the people displaced by development.

"Jharkhand government is committed to development. Along with development works, the government is also taking care of the displaced people. Earlier the displaced people used to run from pillar to post for rehabilitation, but now they are being rehabilitated," Das said.

The chief minister was talking to reporters after inspecting the construction of a colony for the people displaced by the projects of new buildings for the state assembly and the high court.

"The bright example is rehabilitation of the people displaced because of the construction of Jharkhand assembly and Jharkhand High Court buildings. The government will allocate houses to the displaced people by October," he said.

Das asked the contractors to complete construction of the high court building by December and assembly building by January next year, maintaining the time frame.

Each of the 400 odd displaced families would get a three-bedroom house in the colony and Rs 200 crore is being spent for that. The colony would also have a school and market, the chief minister said.

The state came into existence in the year 2000 but it still has no building for the assembly which is now functioning from a rented house, Das said adding that The government set a goal to construct building for the assembly as soon as his government came to power.

The high court, functioning from its old building, will be shifted to the new one. The new buildings for the assembly and the high court are being built at Kuteh, on the outskirts of Ranchi.

The state government is also constructing panchayat buildings in villages.
