J'khand to launch plantation, water conservation campaigns

Jharkhand will launch a campaign for planting saplings and water conservation works between June 15 and August 15.

Announcing this at a function at Chaukulia to mark World Environment Day, Chief Minister Raghubar Das said school students, ministers, MLAs and officials would take oath in order to understand their responsibility in protecting environment, a press release said.

Stating that protecting and offering puja to trees was an ancient culture, Das said the responsibility was to take forward the legacy to the generation next.

For water conservation, 'water banks' would soon be initiated, he said.

The government was serious in forest conservation and pondering over to give maximum plantation work to women self-help groups.
