Union Health Minister J P Nadda arrived here to chair the governing council of the North East's only super specialty referral hospital - the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS).
Among the other issues likely to come up during the meeting was the long pending proposal to grant autonomy status to the Institute on the lines of the AIIMS, an official at the institute told PTI on condition of anonymity.
He said the Ministry had in 2012 endorsed the need for granting autonomy to the Institute, but was yet to be implemented.
