John Krasinski, known to "The Office" fans as affable Jim Halpert, is returning to the small screen in a completely new avatar, as full-time CIA analyst Jack Ryan.

Krasinski, who earned great reviews for his last directorial venture "A Quiet Place", says the production on the new show was so massive that it did not feel like they were shooting for television.

Based on Tom Clancy's work, 'Jack Ryan' has been adapted into a new series, slated to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on August 31.

"I don't know if there is any way to categorize what we are working on, it is so massive. It definitely doesn't feel like television," Krasinski said in a statement.

Producing the show involved an expert team, including former Navy SEAL officer Kevin Kent. Thousands of ammunition, heavy artillery, pistols, machine guns and rifles were used to make it look as raw and genuine as possible under the guidance of Natalia Lee, a professional film armorer, who worked as military tech advisor on the show.

The show is written and created by Carlton Cuse and Graham Roland.
