The 37-year-old former White Stripes star had signed on to compose the music for director Gore Verbinski's film, but he has been replaced by Oscar winner Hans Zimmer, reported Daily Star.

Announcing the news in a statement, Disney bosses said, "Jack White, who had originally been contemplated to score and has contributed several pieces of music to the production, was logistically unavailable due to scheduling conflicts that arose when the film's release moved to July of 2013."

Zimmer has previously worked with Verbinski on the "Pirates of the Caribbean" films.
