Jackal population increasing

The population of jackal,

considered as rare animal, has increased in Kadambur forest area.

Normally it will live in forest areas, bushes, green fields and rain-fed areas and live on snakes, rabbits, birds, rats, a Forest Department press release said here.

Often it will enter the farmers field and houses eat the chicks.

The forest officials said that they have already installed number of automatic cameras in Kadambur, Bannari, Kemmanacikkenplayam and Geermalam to trap the movement of animals.
