Senior police official Jagmohan today took over as Siliguri police commissioner, replacing K Jayaraman, who was recently shunted out.

After assuming charge, Jagmohan said the investigation into the scam in Siliguri-Jalpaiguri Development Authority (SJDA) would continue. Jagmohan was IGP(1), CID, before he took up his present assignment.

Jayaraman has been put on compulsory waiting by the state government for not consulting his higher-ups before arresting Malda District Magistrate G Kiran Kumar in connection with the scam.

Kiran Kumar had been arrested on November 30 for his alleged involvement in paying contractors when he was the CEO of SJDA for projects that were not completed. He was sent on 15 days' leave immediately after he was granted bail.

Kiran Kumar has been replaced by Sharad Dwivedi.
