Jagran Prakashan Q1 up 5.4% at Rs 73.63 crore

Jagran Prakashan Ltd (JPL), the publisher of leading Hindi daily Dainik Jagran, today reported 5.41 per cent increae in standalone net profit to Rs 73.63 crore for the first quarter ended on June 30, 2016.

The company had posted a net profit of Rs 69.85 crore in the April-June period a year ago.

Total income from operations was up 8.57 per cent to Rs 473.42 crore during the period under review as against Rs 436.02 crore in the corresponding quarter of previous fiscal, the company said in a BSE filing.

Commenting on the results, JPL Chairman and Managing Director Mahendra Mohan Gupta said, "Dainik Jagran continued to deliver 30 per cent plus operating margins. The company's subsidiary, Midday Infomedia Ltd, delivered yet another quarter of remarkable performance and Naidunia has reported an operating profit against loss in Q1 FY16".
 

JPL's advertisement revenue during the quarter was up 8.8 per cent to Rs 333.43 crore, as against Rs 306.45 crore of the first quarter of FY 2015-16.

Revenue from circulation was Rs 100.33 crore, up 6.2 per cent, from Rs 94.48 crore of the corresponding quarter.

Shares of JPL today settled at Rs 181.60 on BSE, down 0.55 per cent from previous close.
