A day after court rejected his bail plea and sent him to jail, Congress MLA Harish Dhami was today admitted to district hospital here after complaints of low blood pressure and imbalance in sugar level.

He was on hunger strike from 10 AM yesterday after a court in Didihat rejected his bail application and sent him to jail. Dhami had surrendered yesterday before the first class judicial magistrate, two days before the time given to him by the Nainital High Court.

The Dharchula MLA was admitted to Pithoragarh district hospital today on the advice of a panel of doctors, sources said.

He had complained about low blood pressure and imbalance in sugar level in the judicial custody at Didihat.

"After he sat on hunger strike, his blood pressure level reduced and he developed dehydration symptoms inside the cell, due to which he was referred to district hospital for further check up," said medical officer Dr Prakash who checked the MLA at Didihat cell.
