Jains down shutters to protest against the ban on Santhara

Shops and establishments in the city run by members belonging to Jain community were closed today to protest against the ban on 'Santhara' (fast unto death) by the Rajasthan High Court a couple of days ago.

The majority of the shops dealing with electric, electrical goods, textile and paper are run by Jains in and around the city.

Some 500 members of Jain community took out a rally, under the banner of Jain Maha Sangh, some three kms in the city, to lodge their protest.
