Jaipur celebrates Foundation Day

The Pink City today celebrated its 286th Foundation Day as several cultural programmes were organised in the city to mark the occasion.

The city witnessed a cultural extravaganza as several folk musical and dance performances were organised at almost all the tourist spots.

Tourists at Albert Hall were able to witness tribal dance and folk songs while at the central hub of the city, Statue Circle, there was 'Gair Dance' by Prem Kumar Saini from Barmer and 'Chakri Dance' by Udai Singh of Baran.

Those who went to Hawa Mahal were able to listen to the Shehnai performed by Murari Lal Rana.
 

Bundu Khan from Barmer presented 'Khartal Vadan' and Hanuman Bhopa from Ajmer gave the presentation by 'Ravan Hatta' at Amer fort whereas a puppet show was held at Jal Mahal Ki Pal by the artist Raju Bhat.

These performances were from morning to evening and as many as 71 artistes participated, an official said.

The celebrations were organised by the department of tourism, Rajasthan government.

"We organised cultural events at various important tourist locations of the city so that the visitors as well as the locals could see and enjoy them," Principal Secretary- Tourism, Rakesh Srivastava said.

At the district level too, he said, events like rural sports and painting were organised to mark the Rajasthan Day Foundation.
