Jaisalmer Urban Improvement Trust (UIT) chairman Ummed Singh Tanwar today resigned from his post in the wake of Congress' defeat in Rajasthan Assembly polls recently.
Disappointed with the poll results in which BJP got unprecedented victory by winning 162 seats out of 199, Tanwar tendered his resignation to the state government, an official said.
Tanwar, who was the first chairman of the Trust said, he would sit in the opposition and work for the party.
His resignation has come three days after the resignation of Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee chief Chandrabhan who gave up his post on December 8 accepting moral responsibility for defeat of the party in Rajasthan.
