Information and Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitley will deliver the Sardar Patel Memorial lecture tomorrow where he will present his views on whether it is possible to put reasonable restrictions on freedom of speech and expression given today's media landscape.

The event is being organised by the All India Radio (AIR) at the National Media Centre.

A recording of Jaitley's speech would be broadcast by AIR on October 31, officials said.

All India Radio has lined up several special programmes for its stations across India as part of birth anniversary celebrations of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel from October 25 to 31.

Officials said AIR stations will broadcast programmes in different languages and coverage will also be provided to various events held on the occasion.

In addition, it will also broadcast versification of various dimensions of Sardar Patel's personality.

AIR's social media platforms will pay tribute to Sardar Patel by hosting excerpts of his archived historical speeches.

The Narendra Modi government has been facing accusations from the Congress of trying to appropriate the legacy of its leaders including Patel.
