Around 15 people, led by activist Kishore Kodwani, today staged a 'Jal Satyagraha' by venturing into Pipliyahana lahe here to protest the annexe construction of district court building adjacent to the century-old water body.
The protesters remained in knee-deep water of the lake situated on the MG road for two to three hours.
"Construction near the lake will affect the water body, ground water level and environment around," Kodwani said.
BJP and Congress too are averse to the annexe and have opposed it.
Besides, Lok Sabha speaker and local MP Sumitra Mahajan is among some prominent personalities who are against the construction.
