Former JD(U) MLA Jaleshwar Mahto was today appointed party's Jharkhand unit president.

Gopal Krishna alias Raja Peterr, who is an MLA and had defeated JMM chief Shibu Soren in past, has resigned from the post in the party citing his interest in Assembly politics.

"In his resignation, he has submitted that while he was obliged and thankful for having appointed him as President of the state unit, he would not be able to justify his position further as he wants to devote more time now in the state assembly business. I have accepted his resignation," party President Sharad Yadav said in a press release.

The party has also asked Mahto to constitute new state committee in 10 days and report to the national president.
