Office-bearers of an association of jallikattu organisers today called on Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and thanked her for making continuous efforts in getting the Central government's nod for holding the bull taming sport in the state.
President of Madurai-based 'Tamil Nadu Jallikattu Peravai' Rajasekaran, Secretary Narayanan and other office-bearers met Jayalalithaa at the Secretariat and thanked her, a state government release said.
They thanked her "for making continuous efforts to get the Central government's nod" to allow Jallikattu, it said.
After months of persuasion and appeal by political parties and pro-Jallikattu groups, the Central government last week published a gazette notification allowing the traditional sport with some conditions.
