Jamaican authorities say they have seized about 900 kilograms of marijuana from a speedboat off the island's southern coast.

Police said yesterday that the drugs are valued at nearly USD 100,000. They say they believe the boat left from Puerto Rico and that two Puerto Ricans who were transporting the drug are hiding in Jamaica.

The seizure comes a day after police discovered about 159 kilograms of marijuana at the island's main airport in the capital of Kingston.

Police say officers at the Norman Manley International Airport found the drugs inside two metal containers. They say the 140 bricks of marijuana were wrapped in plastic.

No one has been arrested in either incident.
