A number of students from Jamia Millia Islamia University and Jawaharlal Nehru University today staged a demonstration outside Delhi Police's Special Cell office here against detention of two youths from Jamia Nagar area.

The Special Cell had picked them up on Sunday suspecting they had links with IM operatives arrested from Rajasthan that day. The youths were later released after they were found clean during questioning.

Even that day, their detention had sparked off protests in the area as locals and some activists staged demonstration outside the local police station terming the detention as "illegal".

The two youths, one of whom is a final year student of mechanical engineering from a college in Jaipur, were picked up from a house in Abul Fazal Enclave in Jamia Nagar around 7:00 AM.

Their detention had come after the arrest of top Indian Mujahideen terrorist Zia-Ur-Rehman alias Waqas, a Pakistani national wanted in connection with several bombings, and his three accomplices from Rajasthan.
