Veteran actress Jamie Lee Curtis is stepping behind the camera for the first time since 1992 to direct an upcoming episode of her hit show "Scream Queens."

Curtis, 57, will take charge of episode eight of season two, which will begin filming on October 12 and air in the US in November, reported Entertainment Weekly.

It will mark Curtis' first directing stint for an hour-long drama, although she previously took charge of an installment of her TV comedy series "Anything But Love" 24 years ago.

The job is part of show co-creator Ryan Murphy's Half Foundation initiative, which provides entertainment jobs, mentorships and scholarships to women and minorities, including members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) communities.

Curtis will also serve as a mentor to one of the organisation's students.
