Bodies of 21 of the 67 people washed away with a bus in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district are yet to be recovered even after a week-long search operation involving different agencies.
"A total of 67 people were in the bus which was washed away. Of them, 21 bodies are yet to be recovered, while 46 bodies have been fished out," Inspector General of Police (IGP) (Jammu Zone) Rajesh Kumar told reporters here today.
An operation by police and Army is on to trace rest of the bodies, he said.
The IGP said a case has been registered with regard to the mishap and investigation is only to fix responsibilities.
Over 67 members of a marriage party travelling in the bus were washed away in flash floods in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district on September 4. There were four survivors, including the driver.
General Officer Commanding (GoC), 16 Corps, Lt Gen H K Singh had on Sunday told reporters that there is an apprehension that the bodies might have been swept away to Pakistan as one of the bodies was recovered in a nallah joining Chenab close to the border.
Meanwhile, the IG said bodies of seven of the 41 people who died in a landslide in a village in Panchari belt of Udhampur district four days ago have been recovered.
The operation by police, Army, NDRF and SDRF have been going on to recover rest of the bodies, he said.
