Punjab Tourism Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu today said the Jang-e-Azadi memorial, to be built at Kartarpur in the district here, would be developed as a major tourist attraction.
Asserting that once completed, the memorial would be an "architectural marvel", he said it had the potential to attract a number of tourists as it would provide valuable information about the freedom fighters from Punjab.
"The memorial would be a tribute to those heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country. The state government is committed to developing it as a major tourist attraction," the cricketer-turned-politician said.
He added that Chief Minister Amarinder Singh had already sanctioned an amount of Rs 15 crore for the second phase of the construction of the memorial.
